These creative indoor herb garden ideas are sure to get your green thumb excited. There is nothing more satisfying or convenient than harvesting fresh herbs right in your kitchen. The best thing is that these all work great in small spaces and apartments too.

Just think, it could be the middle of winter and you could be gardening and eating fresh herbs. Or, maybe you do not have a garden space outside and this will be your little year-round indoor garden oasis.

Plus, herbs will provide a lovely aroma to your kitchen as well. So, I invite you to take a look and get inspired to start growing herbs indoors!

1. Kitchen Herb Basket

Indoor herb garden basket with fresh herbs growing on a dining room table.

This kitchen herb basket really gives off that country kitchen or cottagecore aesthetic. It is very easy to do, and only takes about 15 minutes to put together.

Plus, it gives you an excuse to wander through your local thrift store for a basket. And, if we are being honest… probably some other treasures too because – you know.

2. Kitchen Wall Herb Garden

I just love this vertical wall herb garden that I made out of a thrifted picture frame. It might actually be one of my favorite projects yet.

I like it because it does not take up any additional counter space. It also has a built in grow light so your herbs can grow to their fullest.

3. Mason Jar Herb Garden

Herbs growing in mason jars in a wooden holder on the kitchen counter.

How cute are these mason jar herb planters! Growing herbs in jars can be tricky at first. But, once you know the basics it is as easy as pie!

You could also incorporate other types of jars or containers with no drainage using these same methods.

4. DIY Tin Can Planters

Don’t you just love the vintage, old timey feel of these recycled tin can planters?

They actually make great herb pots too because they are nice and roomy for healthy roots and have drainage added to the bottom. All you need are some recycled soup cans, some chalk paint, and a little mod podge to add the labels.
